Chairman’s Words Feb 2024

Dear All

I just want to let everyone know that I am stepping down as Chairman from next season. This is due to my time constraints regarding work. I am currently doing a lot of work at weekends and I am not leading the OWFC as to how I would like too.

I have really enjoyed my time as chairman and would highly recommend to everyone else to get involved with the running of our prestige club. It’s been an honour and a privilege to be chairman over the last 3 years.

I am delighted to say that this weekend ( or maybe not with the flooded pitches! ) all our teams will be competing in our new club kit. We have the new kit and new kit bags all ready for collection for your next match.

We as club have invested a lot of time, effort and financial costings into getting new kit for the club. We listened to all the members at last year’s AGM on what colour, style and quality the kit should be. It’s important for the whole club to understand that we can’t accommodate everyone’s personal preference.

The key fundamentals on the kit that were important to me were for us to all have the same colour kit throughout the club. It’s something I believe will create an environment that we are one club from Saturday sides, Sunday sides and Vets sides.

With this in mind we ask all managers and players to respect and take care of the new kit. For me the club is creating a sense of belonging by investing in goals, nets, dugouts, offering club training facility and now a new kit for us to enjoy.

Your support in taking pride, respect and taking care of the kit is all that we are asking from everyone. (No cutting Socks)

Going back to the theme of the club committee, we are always keen for members to join and help shape the future of our great club. All committee positions are open if you are interested. Please come and discuss with me for more details.

Andrew Stears will be stepping down as Club Captain this coming year as his 3 year stint comes to a close. I would like to thank him for his passion and commitment to this role. The new Club Captain will be appointed by the new committee for September.

Upcoming dates

6th April – Our club has been selected to host a SAL cup final which is an honour and it would be great to see people supporting this by coming along to watch the game.

1st June – End of Season Awards at the club linked to the Champions League Final.

12th June – OWFC AGM

One final comment to any players who have played less than 3 games and are unlikely to play any more, you are entitled to get your registration fee back. We encourage you do so although if you wish to donate the money to the club we will naturally accept. Please contact the treasurer if this affects you.

Wishing all teams a competitive end to the season. We still have teams competing for league titles and cups.

Kind regards

Matt
